MANILA, Philippines — Around 16,820 uniformed personnel are undertaking mandatory career courses and field training exercises in preparation for their deployment for election duties, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said.
In a statement, PNP chief Police General Dionardo Carlos said 15,612 police non-commissioned officers (PNCO), 1,208 police commissioned officers (PCO), and 1,007 police officers at the PNP main headquarters consisting of 611 PCOs undergoing Officers Senior Executive Course (OSEC) were turned over by the PNP Directorate for Human Resource and Doctrine Development (DHRDD) to the PNP Directorate for Personnel and Records Management (DPRM).
The turnover ceremony was held Thursday, April 7 at Camp Crame.
“Undeniably, there is no cause more worthy than the cause of ensuring that the loftiest exercise of the democratic right to suffrage by the Filipino citizens will be pursued this forthcoming National and Local May 2022 Elections,” Carlos said during the ceremony.
Meanwhile, a simultaneous turn-over of some 15,813 PCOs and PNCOs from the 17 Police Regional Offices was likewise undertaken by the respective Regional Task Groups of the PNP Security Task Force NLE 2022.
“As you assume election duties, may you be reminded of the primordial goal of every police officer to always provide a professional, fast, efficient, and courteous response to a legitimate citizen’s request for police service or assistance,” Carlos said.
“Let us always ensure that the judicious use of police authority shall be grounded on the respect for human dignity, transparency, integrity, accountability, rule of law, and democratic governance,” he added.
