Manhunt operations are underway against the drug suspects who escaped from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) jail inside the Philippine National Police (PNP) Central Luzon Office at Camp Olivas in Pampanga.

Six of the 13 escapees surrendered on Monday.

PDEA Regional Director Juvenal Azurin said they are coordinating with the escapees’ families to convince them to voluntarily return to jail.

Five prison breakers were returned to PDEA jail on Monday before dawn, while another detainee voluntarily surrendered before the PDEA office in San Fernando City.

Two other escapees surrendered to the authorities in Malolos and Plaridel in Bulacan.

Before dawn on Sunday, 13 drug suspects broke out from prison after sawing the steel bars in their cells.

“They used a metal saw based on our initial investigation,” said Azurin.

Meanwhile, authorities are still hunting for five other escapees.

Azurin warns of pressing charges against the two prison guards and a police officer on duty when the detainees escaped once proven that they were neglectful or if they had something to do with the incident. — Leslie Longboen | UNTV News and Rescue
