A police officer assigned as an intelligence warrant officer of the Guinobatan Municipal Police Station was killed by still unidentified gunmen, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said Monday.
PNP chief Police General Guillermo Eleazar said the police officer, identified as Police Staff Sergeant Allan Madelar, was gunned down in Barangay Peñafrancia where he attended a birthday party on Saturday night.
Eleazar said he has ordered the Police Regional Police Office 5 to immediately resolve Madelar’s killing.
Eleazar appealed to those who witnessed the incident to come forward and help authorities in shedding light on the incident.
The PNP chief also expressed his condolences to the family of Madelar as he vowed that all necessary assistance would be provided to Madelar’s bereaved family.
