National Bureau of Investigation – Counter Terrorism Division (NBI-CTD) Chief Raoul Manguerra died of a gunshot wound early Tuesday (December 8) according to police report.
Manguerra was found inside his office in Manila with a gunshot wound to the abdomen at about 11:39 p.m. Monday (December 7).
Initial investigation revealed that a certain “Bert”, the victim’s driver and “Dads”, a casual employee at NBI rushed Manguerra to the Manila Doctors Hospital after they heard a gunshot coming from the latter’s office.
The NBI official was pronounced dead on arrival 12:02 a.m.
At the hospital, the victim’s live-in partner, Atty. Ma. Rosario Bernardo told police that she received a phone call from the NBI-CTD informing her that Manguerra was rushed to the hospital due to a gunshot wound.
The report further stated that Bernardo “averred that the victim was suffering from stage 3 colon cancer.”
NBI Deputy Director and Spokesperson Ferdinand Lanvin said NBI Director Eric Distor has already ordered a thorough investigation into Manguerra’s death including a lockdown on the NBI premises immediately after the incident.
