
MANILA, Philippines – The chief of the National Center for Mental Health (NCMH) and his driver were fatally shot on Monday morning in Barangay Culiat in Quezon City, police said.
In a report, the Quezon City Police District identified the victims as Roland Luyun Cortez, 61, chief of NCMH, and driver Ernesto Ponce Dela Cruz, 46.
QCPD Station 3 said its officers on patrol found Cortez and Dela Cruz dead with gunshot wounds inside their vehicle along Casanova Drive Street, corner Tandang Sora Avenue.
A bystander said the victims were shot by two unidentified male assailants onboard a motorcycle before fleeing towards the Commonwealth Avenue.
Police investigation on the incident is underway.
